HOW TO JOIN
Companies join the Green Dot system by signing a contract transferring their responsibilities. By means of this contract, they transfer to SPV the responsibility for managing the packaging waste that they place on the Portuguese market. There are three possible ways of joining:.

MINIMUM STATEMENT
If your company's turnover is €100,000 a year or less, this is your option. The minimum statement is the easiest way of joining the Green Dot System, as you do not need to submit any kind of statement about the packaging that you place on the market.
All you have to do with this option is confirm every year that your turnover is less than €100,000 and pay a minimum fee to the Green Dot System.
If your turnover exceeds €100,000 in a particular year, then you have to fill in a simplified statement or detailed annual statement. In this case, you will not have to make any changes to your licensee contract.

SIMPLIFIED STATEMENT
If your company places up to 20 tonnes of packaging on the Portuguese market per year, the simplified statement may be an option.
Companies that use this option fill in an annual simplified statement, in which they only have to indicate the total weight of and the materials used in the packaging placed on the Portuguese market with no need to quantify each of them separately.
This statement is completed only in the year you join. In subsequent years, the amount of the statement is calculated automatically by SPV, using average growth rates in the company's sector. To submit your statement all you have to do is confirm to us that your company has not placed more than 20 tonnes of packaging on the Portuguese market and approve the statement with the figures drafted by SPV. If for any reason you do not agree with the figures, you can choose to fill in and submit a detailed statement.

DETAILED STATEMENT
If your company places more than 20 tonnes of packaging on the Portuguese market annually, this is your option.
Companies that use this option fill in an annual detailed statement that classifies packaging as follows:
• types of packaging (primary packaging, multipacks, checkout bags and service packaging excluding checkout bags)
• materials in the packaging (glass, plastic, paper and cardboard, beverage cartons, steel, aluminium, wood and other materials)
• products packed in it (fast-moving consumer products).
Companies that use this option fill in an annual detailed statement that classifies packaging as follows:
• types of packaging (primary packaging, multipacks, checkout bags and service packaging excluding checkout bags)
• materials in the packaging (glass, plastic, paper and cardboard, beverage cartons, steel, aluminium, wood and other materials)
• products packed in it (fast-moving consumer products).
2ND STEP RETROACTIVITY
If you wish your contract to also include your company's previous activity, you can choose one of the following alternatives when you join SPV:
ALTERNATIVE 1 – WITH RETROACTIVITY
The company transfers the responsibility for non-reusable packaging of products placed on the Portuguese market from the 1st of january 2017. Under this alternative, your company will receive green dot certificates for the current year and also backdated to 1st of january 2017. This guarantees legal compliance for these years in the event of an inspection by the authorities.
ALTERNATIVE 2 – NO RETROACTIVITY
The company transfers the responsibility for non-reusable packaging of products placed on the Portuguese market as of the beginning of the year on which the contract with SPV is signed.
Under this alternative your company will only receive a green dot certificate for the year you joined.

PROCEDURES FOR JOINING:
If you are going to join the system with a detailed statement you can do so online or on paper.
If you are going to join the system with a simplified or minimum statement, you must do so online.

O JOIN ONLINE:
Go to www.pontoverde.pt, click on the “SPVNET CLIENTES” button, click on the "MEMBERSHIP" button and enter the details requested.
Access your customer area on www.pontoverde.pt, click on the “SPVNET CLIENTES” button and log in with your username (email address) and the password that Sociedade Ponto Verde will e-mail to you.
In the customer area, fill in all the information requested, including annual statement(s) depending on the type of statement applicable to your company (detailed, simplified or minimum statement).
Print two copies of the contract and send them to Sociedade Ponto Verde after they have been signed and initialled by the company's legal representative(s).
Pay the invoice for the initial financial contribution that Sociedade Ponto Verde will provide in your reserved costumer area.
Obtain the Green Dot certificate(s) provided in your reserved costumer area.
E-mail a request for all the membership documentation to clientes@pontoverde.pt.
