Sociedade Ponto Verde and the publishing company Princípia will be giving an award to the best original environmental work. This is one of the new features of the fifth Green Project Awards organised by Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente, Quercus and GCI. The winning author will be announced in September.

The award will go to academic essays in the fields of environmental education and applied research. The idea is to disseminate practices and procedures that favour responsible, environmentally sustainable policies and behaviour. It will allow the publication of works that might otherwise not be published, in spite of their importance to the area.

In addition to this award, the fifth Green Project Awards, which publicise the best initiatives by companies, institutions and members of the public and encourage mobilisation, awareness-raising and innovation, are also being sponsored by Sociedade Ponto Verde.

This project has been under way since 2008 and has already recognised 28 success stories. By sponsoring it Sociedade Ponto Verde is making its contribution to encouraging projects that foster sustainable development.
