Inclusive recycling drop off containers at exhibition in Norteshopping

The exhibition shows containers designed to facilitate separation of recycling materials by people with reduced mobility.

Lisbon, 18 July 2013: Making recycling drop-off containers inclusive and disabled friendly is the aim of the exhibition at Norteshopping in Matosinhos from 19 July.

The projects on display are from a competition to design selective waste collection bins accessible to everyone (Project R+) and accessibility in public places, organised by Lipor last year. It was sponsored by a number of entities, including Sociedade Ponto Verde. The purpose of the competition was to study selective waste disposal by the disabled and find ways to help them separate recycling materials in their everyday lives.

The exhibition's opening ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on 19 July. It will be attended by José Macedo Vieira, Chairman of the Board of Lipor, and Mário Raposo, Marketing and Licensee Director at Sociedade Ponto Verde.

The awards will also be presented to the winners of the competition on that day.

Winning projects
1st - Friendly Invaders – entry coordinated by Hélio Simão Martins e Sá
2nd - Eclo – entry coordinated by Diogo Fula
3rd - entry coordinated by Bruno Filipe Rêgo
Honourable mention - entry coordinated by Tiago Jorge Andrade Santos

The exhibition will be open at NorteShopping in Matosinhos until 29 July.

"More than just places for placing packaging waste, recycling drop-off containers should also be inclusive and educational. The R+ project was designed to create the right conditions for everyone, without exception, to help recycling in Portugal," said Luís Veiga Martins, Managing Director of Sociedade Ponto Verde.
