Did you know that in just one hour enough paper is recycled to wrap up the bridge over the Tagus, along with enough plastic to produce 7,500 t-shirts? Or that the packaging recycled every hour weighs the equivalent of 12 elephants?

Once again with the creativity of Euro RSCG, Sociedade Ponto Verde is starting its new campaign on 02 October to make people aware of how much can be done in an hour with the used packaging that they drop off in the recycling containers.

The new spot entitled “Numa Hora” (\"In just an Hour\") was filmed in Lisbon and its stars are children of different ages who give examples of what happens in an hour\'s work at Sociedade Ponto Verde. Around them, we see images illustrating the numbers that they give, as if we were looking into their imagination.

\"The new campaign gives us a fun reminder that every time we place used packaging in a recycling drop-off container we are making it possible to manufacture new products with new uses, like bicycles or t-shirts,\" said Luís Veiga Martins, Managing Director of Sociedade Ponto Verde.

This spot also tells us that one and a half million items of packaging with the green dot symbol are sold in an hour in Portugal. When this symbol reaches customers, it means that the company has a contract with Sociedade Ponto Verde and that a fee has been paid to SPV for the packaging. SPV will be responsible for recovering the packaging after it has been used.

The campaign will be previewed at Green Fest, an event with which SPV is associated, on 27 September and also on SPV\'s Facebook page.

The advert has 20” and 40” spots for TV and 60” spots for cinemas and will be aired on RTP (1 and 2, Madeira and Açores), SIC, SIC Notícias, TVI, TVI24, FOX, National Geographic and AXN. (See credits below).

In 2011, Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV) sent more than 711,000 tonnes of packaging waste for recycling. The overall recycling rate was 64%, which exceeded the global target of 55% in its licence.
