Sociedade Ponto Verde supports Projeto 80

Sociedade Ponto Verde has just joined Projeto 80, a nationwide initiative that invites young people from student associations all over the country to submit projects that generate sustainable behaviour.

By supporting the project, Sociedade Ponto Verde wishes to help to encourage a debate on sustainability and entrepreneurship among young people.

Projeto 80 is being promoted by the Portuguese government in partnership with

Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente, the Department of Education, Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, Quercus and the Green Project Awards. Its aim is to boost the association movement in schools and foster education for sustainability, entrepreneurship and democratic citizenship.

Projeto 80 is open to student associations at secondary schools that undertake one or more sustainability projects, such as those promoting efficient resource management, reduction of the carbon and water footprints, biodiversity, entrepreneurship, the green economy, social innovation and volunteering and other forms of citizenship and public involvement.

The students have to submit their projects through schools\' student associations that have been officially set up or are in the formal phase of constitution and submit projects undertaken in the 2011-2012 or 2012-2013 school years.

The first phase of submissions to Projeto 80 is open until 15 March. The second will last from 16 March to 31 May and will be accompanied by the Projeto 80 Roadshow, which will visit schools in the 18 district capitals.

Three finalists will be chosen in each phase, meaning that six projects will be candidates for the Youth Initiative of the Green Project Awards Portugal.

Student associations from secondary schools, young people aged 13 to 17, the school community, parents and guardians are the targets of Projeto 80. They can keep up with the itinerary and progress of Projeto 80 on:
