Sociedade Ponto Verde recognises works on the environment

For the second year running, Sociedade Ponto Verde and the Princípia publishing company are going to give awards to original works in the field of sustainable development.

The Sociedade Ponto Verde GPA Best Original Work Award has been instituted as part of the Green Project Awards, the sixth edition of which was presented in Lisbon today. The aim is to identify, recognise and guarantee publication of high-quality works in Portuguese that promote practices and procedures to foster sustainable development. This award will allow the publication of works that might not otherwise be published, in spite of their importance to the area.

The scope of the works eligible for submission in the competition has been extended to increase participation. In addition to academic essays, academic and scientific monographs, such as doctoral and master\'s theses, and other original works on the environment and sustainability can be submitted.

Submissions have been open since 1 March and candidates can present their works, under a pseudonym, up to 31 May.

EPAL Museu da Água (Water Museum) in focus in 2012

In the 2012 Green Project Awards, the role of museums as teachers of their values and, more specifically, their importance when it comes to citizenship and environmental values, was the winning theme of the Sociedade Ponto Verde GPA Best Original Work Award.

The winner was Bem Público – Valor Público. A Educação para os valores ambientais no Museu da Água da EPAL by Margarida Ramos, which was published by Princípia in February.

The author based her work on a case study of Museu da Água da Empresa Portuguesa das Águas Livres (EPAL) on the basis of an analysis of its dynamic with schools.
